Norwich Spikers Volleyball Club
UEA Sportspark, Norwich Research Park
We are Norwich Spikers. We aim to promote volleyball in Norfolk.
Volleyball is a sport where it doesn't matter how young you are, how tall you are or how experienced you are, you are always part of a team built on roles and strategies - planning and improvisation are equally important.
We welcome players of any level, age, background and experience at our open sessions. We believe volleyball is for everyone, whether you'd like to play recreationally or competitively. There is no need to pre-arrange a meeting, just feel free to turn up at your leisure.
We have separate trainings for juniors, adults, and advanced players. All trainings are held at the Sportspark at the University of East Anglia
Young people between the ages of 11 and 18 are expected at the junior sessions.
Boys and girls under 18 years of age: every Wednesday between 19:00 and 20:40 at UEA Sportspark
The adult sessions are primarily aimed at players over 18 years of age, but coaches may decide to let juniors of sufficient skill levels attend (and when they do, they usually prove to be formidable opponents). The adult trainings are split into a fun-oriented open session for all, and more advanced sessions for the Local League and National League teams plus invited guests.
Attendance at the advanced sessions is at the discretion of our coaches, if you think you are an advanced player, please turn up at the normal open training session and consult the trainer before attending the advanced sessions.
Open Session (including beginners and anyone who wants to play for fun): every Wednesday between 19:00 and 20:40 at UEA Sportspark
Women's Local League Training (for the Nike and Sparta womens' teams): every Wednesday between 20:40 and 22:20 at UEA Sportspark
Men's Local League Training (for the Spikers 1 and Infernos men's teams): every Wednesday between 20:40 and 22:20 at UEA Sportspark
Women's National League Training: every Tuesday at Easton College, between 19:00 and 20:30 (unless told otherwise)
Men's National League Training: every Tuesday at Easton College, between 20:30 and 22:00 (unless told otherwise)
What you need
There is no need for any special equipment - just wear stable shoes and comfy clothes that don't restrict your movement. If you are new to volleyball you might prefer to wear a long sleeved t-shirt in order to protect your forearms from fast balls. Members and non-members are required to pay a monthly fee as laid out below, but your first session is free. Some players like to use kneepads and elbow pads so they can fully commit to dives when playing on hard flooring, but diving is certainly not a minimum requirement! Knowledge of volleyball rules and team dynamics is not required. Our coaches will help you with progressing your volleyball skills.
Your first session is FREE. See our website for Membership fees.
