Norwich Pétanque Club is dedicated to enabling people to play the game of Pétanque, or Boules.
The Norwich Pétanque Club is the longest established club in the Anglia Region having been formed in 1979 at the request, and with the co-operation of the Sports and Leisure department of the Norwich City Council. The Club ran for the first year at the Norman Centre in Norwich, after which it moved to The Cottage public house in Thorpe, where it has remained ever since, becoming one of the biggest in the area.
Members of the Club have been instrumental in helping new clubs to get under way in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. Our players have been at the forefront in competitions at all levels and we are currently represented by five teams in the SamuelJacks Norfolk League and its associated Knockout Shield competition.
The Club stages six open competitions each year at The Cottage, as well as internal events and a number of County and Regional competitions.
New members and players are always needed and you can be assured of a warm welcome with plenty of people on-hand to show you how to play the sport. We provide everything you need to get started and you can come along to club night three times before you need to commit to becoming a member.
Our club night is run every Wednesday of the year, the only exceptions being if Christmas day or Boxing day fall on a Wednesday. It starts at 7 pm and is where we all get together, have a catch up, a laugh and of course play Pétanque.
