Roundwood Bowls Club
Roundwood Bowls Club
44 Ringland Road, Taverham
Welcoming new members of all ages.
Roundwood Bowls Club was founded in 1989 by John & Sharon Hipperson. There was an indoor bowls green with 6 rinks and a function room. In addition there was an outdoor artificial green with four rinks.
In July 2006 Mary and Graham Tuddenham took over the ownership of Roundwood and have developed the site greatly in the last 7 years. Within the first 18 months they had the entire bowls bar and function room refurbished and updated giving Roundwood a clean and up to date image. Another year on and the garden was added at the rear of the function room which was then extended even further in 2011 into the current gardens we have now. The outside bowls rink was removed in 2010 due to a lack of interest in playing outside here at Roundwood, and so was opened up into extra parking which was widely welcomed by all.
The bowls club has now become a members club. Upgrades to the original green include a new wooden floor and carpet, and electronic scoring.
At Roundwood Indoor Bowls Club, new members of any standard are welcome. Non-bowlers and complete beginners can enjoy an introductory package which includes coaching - click here for more information.
We run a number of sessions with different formats including:
Internal leagues (open, mixed, ladies & men's - both pairs and triples as well as two individual leagues). Friendly roll-up sessions where you play with different people every week by entering into a draw - the half time tea break being just as important as the bowls!! Social sessions where there is no dress code and you can bring friends - no-one minds if you deliver your bowl with the wrong bias!! Food is available as well so make a night/afternoon of it. For the really competitive we enter two teams into the County Men's and Ladies leagues as well as a number of national and county competitions.
